In the Fall of 2022 I took Economics 3076, From Bitcoin to Blockchain. This class happened to count towards an elective I need in order to graduate with a degree in Economics, however I was going to take the class either way, I found the course description very interesting, cutting-edge, and relevant. Furthermore, prior to taking this course I knew barely anything about cryptocurrency, and I wanted to understand how it works as we continue to move towards a more digitized future. This class taught me the foundations of how blockchains work and why they are decentralized in nature. It was also great to take an honors class with some of my friends and get to work together after so many semesters of virtual class. This class was more learning and project focused than test focused, and throughout the semester we had many group projects. For one of them each group chose a different cryptocurrency and presented on it so we could all learn about as many currencies as possible. Our group chose Dogecoin. For our final presentation we got the opportunity to present on anything we wanted (related to the course), and our group chose to do a presentation on mining pools.
